About Molly.

Molly Anne Coogan is an award winning writer-creator originally from the Bay Area. Her career began as an actor in the theatre and then quickly grew into making her own work for film, television, theatre, and beyond.

She wrote on the critically acclaimed comedy, PIVOTING, for FOX starring Eliza Coupe, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Maggie Q. She co-wrote the indie mockumentary, STEP ASIDE, about the deranged world of competitive dance starring Arden Myrin on Prime Video. And she was the Script Advisor for the inaugural HBO Max & Warner Bros. Discovery Access Animated Shorts Program which premiered on HBO Max in March 2023. You can read more about it on Deadline and check out the trailer here.

Her films have won awards and screened at festivals like the Mill Valley Film Festival, Cleveland Film Festival, SCAD, Women in Film Shorts, NBC Short Film Festival, internationally at CIFF and more.

As an actor she’s worked with: CBS, TBS, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ars Nova, The O'Neill Theatre Center, The Geffen Playhouse, The Civilians, TheatreWorks California, and more. Passionate about the development of new plays, she’s had the pleasure of performing new work by the likes of Anna Ziegler, Bess Wohl, Jen Silverman, Jon Caren, Melissa Ross, Caroline V. McGraw, Lucy Thurber, Steve Cosson, Laura Schellhardt, and Todd Almond, to name a few.

She is a proud alumna of the Warner Brothers Television Writers’ Workshop.

Molly’s also a committed teaching artist, having spent the last 15 years teaching improv and theatre to inner city kids and incarcerated youth via The 52nd Street Project and Drama Club NYC.

She tends to write and perform in female-driven comedic stories about that weird coupling of loss with the deep human need to keep moving forward and how hard and funny that can be. She writes and plays music, too. She loves photo booths and the word "burgled." She refuses to pass a lemonade stand without buying a glass.
